Team Competition


The ABLE Games showcases teams of two. It offers team divisions for all skill sets from the experienced competitor to those competing for the first time, as well as for people of all abilities. Our teams have age requirements but no gender requirements.


Friday: Student Competition

Divisions & Sub-Divisions

 

This year’s team divisions are: RX, Intermediate, Scaled, RX Adult Co-Ability, Intermediate Adult Co-Ability, Scaled Adult Co-Ability, Student Co-Ability Ages 13-15, Student Co-Ability Ages 16-18, Student Scaled 13-15, and Student Scaled 16-18. Additionally, there are sub-divisions for co-ability: Co-Ability A, B, C Upper Body, C Lower Body, D Upper Body, and D Lower Body.

Registration

 

In our RX, Intermediate, and Scaled team divisions, both partners must register together. However, for our Co-Ability divisions, partners register individually. Participants in this category can either specify their preferred partner during registration or be randomly assigned a partner.

Team Division Descriptions

RX

Team Division: RX

RX means the athlete performs all movements using the prescribed weights and repetitions.


These athletes have a high level of CrossFit experience. The Adult RX Division is composed of 2 RX athletes. Teams can be Male-Male, Female, Female, or Male-Female combinations.


Ages: 18+


Registration: $250 per team

Intermediate

Team Division:  Intermediate

Intermediate is a modification of the RX division.


This division is suitable for athletes that have a good understanding of CrossFit movements and can perform them with proficiency but still working on developing certain skills or building strength. The Adult Intermediate Division is composed of 2 Intermediate athletes. Teams can be Male-Male, Female-Female, or Male-Female combinations. 


Ages: 18+


Registration: $250 per team

Scaled

Team Division: Scaled

Scaled is a further modification of both the RX and Intermediate divisions.


It is designed to accommodate athletes who are newer to competition or still developing their skill and strength.  It allows athletes to participate and experience competition without the need to perform movements or lift weights beyond their current capabilities. An inclusive division that encourages athletes at various fitness levels a chance to compete.


Ages: 18+

Adult Co-Ability

Team Division: Adult Co-Ability

The Adult Co-Ability division was created to provide an inclusive environment for athletes with diverse abilities, or adaptive athletes, to participate peer-to-peer. It allows athletes of different abilities to compete together. Teams can be Male-Male, Female-Female, or Male-Female combinations.


The team is comprised of:


  • 1 RX, Intermediate, or Scaled athlete aged 18+ and not in high school 
  • 1 adaptive athlete aged 18-21+ and not in school or a transitional program who meets the requirements of one of the Co-Ability sub-divisions (Tier A, Tier B, Tier C/D Upper Body Use Only, Tier C/D Lower Body Use Only)

Ages: 18+ and not in high school or a transition program


Registration: $100 per partner

Student Scaled

Team Division: Student Scaled

The Student Scaled Division is where the student athlete performs movements designed to accommodate student athletes who are newer to this type of competition.  It allows student athletes to participate and experience competition without the need to perform movements or lift weights beyond their current capabilities. An inclusive division that encourages athletes at various fitness levels a chance to compete. 


The Student Scaled Division is composed of 2 student athletes. There are 2 subdivisions based on the student’s age. Teams can be Male-Male, Female-Female, or Male-Female combinations.


Subdivisions:


Student Scaled 13-15 years old

Student Scaled 16-18 years old

Ages: 13-18


Registration: $100 per partner

Student Co-Ability

Team Division: Student Co-Ability

The Student Co-Ability division was created to provide an inclusive environment for athletes with diverse abilities, or adaptive athletes, to participate peer-to-peer. It allows athletes of different abilities to compete together. Teams can be Male-Male, Female-Female, or Male-Female combinations.


The team is comprised of:

  • 1 student scaled athlete ages 13-15 OR 16-18 with no known diagnoses
  • 1 adaptive student, ages 13 -21 and in school or a transitional program who meets the requirements of one of the sub-divisions (Tier A, Tier B, Tier C/D Upper Body Use Only, Tier C/D Lower Body Use Only)

Ages: 13-21 and in high school or a transitional program


Co-Ability Sub Divisions

A

This subdivision is for adaptive athletes that may have a medical diagnosis, but the diagnosis does not hinder them from completing the prescribed physical movements. If anything, they may require some verbal directions for understanding. The following are the standard movements and weights athletes should be able to perform in the Tier A subdivision.

B

This subdivision is for adaptive athletes that have a medical diagnosis that requires additional cognitive support. These athletes typically have no physical limitations, but communication may limit verbal processing, there may be difficulty in self-regulation, executive functioning skills, and verbal/non-verbal communication. Athletes require more verbal or visual support from neurotypical athlete for counting of repetitions, or hand over hand physical prompting to continue through movements. The following are the standard movements and weights athletes should be able to perform in the Tier B subdivision.

C Upper Body

This subdivision is for adaptive athletes with physical limitations such as limited to no leg or lower body control. Athletes may use a manual or motorized wheelchair, walker, or crutch for everyday use. This athlete has no cognitive difficulties. The following are the standard movements and weights athletes should be able to perform in the Tier C- Upper Body Use Only subdivision.

D Upper Body

This subdivision is for adaptive athletes with physical limitations such as limited to no leg or lower body control and requires additional cognitive support. Athletes may use a manual or motorized wheelchair, walker, or crutch for everyday use. Athletes have limited communication and processing abilities. Will require more verbal or visual support from neurotypical athlete for counting of repetitions, or hand over hand physical prompting to continue through movements.The following are the standard movements and weights athletes should be able to perform in the Tier D- Upper Body Use Only subdivision.

C Lower Body

Team Division: Student Scaled
