United Way

TNT Kid’s Fitness provides a “wrap around” service in partnership with 36 local area schools and serves a radius of 60 miles outside the Fargo-Moorhead area.  This program is strengthened by TNT Kid’s Fitness, United Way of Cass-Clay, and local and surrounding school partnerships.
Over 415 students receive TNT’s services in our movement based programming. Of those, 51% of the children have been identified needing additional support because they have demonstrated advanced behaviors.

BOLD Goal 2

TNT is a collaborating United Way of Cass-Clay Community Partner UNITED in working toward United Way of Cass-Clay's BOLD community goal to prepare children to succeed.

TNT Goals to accomplish

United Ways BOLD Goal 2

  • Provide the least restrictive environment to foster each individual’s potential

  • Implement curriculum designed to fulfill the development gap for those most challenged physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally.

  • Reduce the number of behavioral referrals by teaching to and showing improvement in IEP behavioral goals.

  • Increase students' skill acquisition in their physical and emotional domains.

In addition to the above focus areas and goals, this program has many residual impacts. TNT partners with the following colleges to enhance their student learning opportunity and to apply their knowledge with hands-on experience.  We are grateful for the following partners:

  • University of Jamestown Physical Therapy students assess 30+ participating students on their physical skill acquisition and one professor has completed research on self-efficacy as it relates to the UJPT student’s understanding of Pediatric Physical Therapy while at TNT.

  • University of Mary’s Occupational Therapy program

  • NDSCS COTA program

  • NDSU and Concordia Exercise Science for Pre-PT/OT and Physical Education students.

  • MSUM Exercise Science and SPED 225 (intro to special needs for education, social work and speech students)

These collaborations have led to an Interdisciplinary Approach between UJPT, MSUM Speech, and University of Mary Occupational Therapy departments which teaches Physical Therapy students, Speech students, and Occupational Therapy students to collaborate and create the best model of therapy for children or adults needing multiple services.

Jill Gustofson - Parent

"The opportunity that my son has to spend an afternoon at TNT during the school week is fabulous.  It takes the idea of adaptive PE to a new level.  When he is at TNT, he has the opportunity to be out of his wheelchair and be an active participant.  What a great partnership!"
